Took off from Jersey long ago
Jumped on the turnpike

Everyone said I was out of my mind
Driving alone to LA
Flying blind
Well, I spent my last dime makin’ it so
Drivin’ a ‘98 van with a broke radio
They say, I’ll be okay
When I get to LA, I’ll be fine
Some day, some way,
Gonna have a place, right below that Hollywood sign
I made it to Cali at three a.m.
Slept in a parking lot again, alone
And as I got on the road again
Said me a prayer and shouted “Amen,”
I’m home
But I can’t find work, don’t know where to go
Everyone said, “I told you so”
My friends say, I’ll be okay
But I never in my life felt so alone
Games and schemes
Hollywood ain’t what it seems
A boulevard of broken dreams is all I know
So many just like me
Thought that they could be
Someone that the world would recognize
But everyone I meet
Is livin’ on the street
